What a House!

Shane loves to draw houses and buildings...do we have an architect here??  Here is his latest drawing.  He drew this one very large on a piece of 12x12 cardstock.  I am not quite sure why he used that house number but it still looks good.  The kids just love to draw on the big sheets of paper.

Yummy Cupcakes

I had a nice long break from the kiddos yesterday and got some major scrapbooking done.  Eddie and Jeanette took the kids to see the Chinese Festival at the Missouri Botanical Garden.  On the way home Eddie stopped by this place called Jilly's that has cakes, cupcakes, and more.  He got a cupcake for all of us - red velvet for me.  The cupcakes were HUGE!!  I ate half this morning but even I can stomach the entire thing.  Back to the gym tomorrow!!!

Paige's Artwork

I think Paige is going to be a little artist.  She is only 2 years old and already drawing recognizable pictures and coloring in the lines in her color books. I thought these pictures were worth  putting up because this was the first time she ever drew a face - and yes, she did draw this all by herself.  The very first thing she drew when she was one was a circle and then she moved to balloons.  I can't wait to see what she will draw next!!!

Visit with Kelly & Bennett

My friend, Kelly, and her son, Bennett, came up from Springfield, MO, to visit us this weekend. Kelly is a close friend from high school that I have kept in touch with for the last 15 years.  We decided to hit The Cupcakery this weekend to try it out.  It was delicious!  We also attended a birthday party Saturday afternoon and did breakfast at Mimi's Cafe on Sunday morning.  The kids had an awesome time playing together - especially Bennett and Paige.  They are only 6 months apart.  Now it is my turn to visit Kelly in Springfield, MO.

Shane's New Artwork

I just started scanning all of Shane's drawings that I love and want to have forever.  I just wanted to share some of his cute pictures.  He is becoming quite the artist.  I asked him what kind of animal he drew and he said it was a "pig dog".  I still can't figure out why he called it that!

My Pretty Eggs

I am taking a free photography class with a group on Flickr and they are keeping us busy with different assignments. Today, I was supposed to take pictures of an object from different angles. When I was coloring eggs this morning I thought they would make a good subject. I am still learning about my camera and how to use the settings. Practice makes perfect, I guess. I'm having fun and that's what counts, right???

Backyard Hunt

We had our own little Easter egg hunt in the backyard on Saturday because we just didn't make it to a "real" one. Jeanette and I hid plastic eggs filled with money and candy all around the backyard - on the playground, in the bushes, and by the trees. Shane was so sweet and let Paige pick up most of the eggs. It was pretty warm so some of the chocolate melted but the kids didn't care. Shane put all of his new money in his little piggy bank.

What an Awesome Weekend

We celebrated Eddie and Jeanette's birthdays this weekend since they are only 3 days apart (April 3 & 6). We had Chinese takeout Friday night and a cake with strawberry filling and whipped frosting. It tasted sort of like a strawberry shortcake. We sang Happy Birthday to Jeanette and she blew out her candles. The kids loved it!

We went to Missouri Botanical Garden on Saturday morning (free, yeah!) and it was packed. Not only was it free to get in but there was also an Easter egg hunt going on. I brought my Canon and special lens and practiced taking pictures (I'm taking an online photography class) and they turned out pretty nice. I was amazed how many photographers were out there. I can't wait to go back in the summer because that is when everything is full bloom.

We took the kids to the tree house play area and they loved it. It was a little old for Paige but she loved going down the rope bridges. It was a lot of walking but there was just so much to see. I think the kids especially enjoyed feeding fish food to the humongous coy in the pond.

Today, we did Costco and dinner at Emperor's Palace (for Eddie's birthday dinner) and ran by Trader Joe's on the way home. All in all, the weekend couldn't have been any better!!!

The Second tooth is out!

I finally had to pull Shane's tooth out tonight because he said it hurt and it was hanging on by a thread. I used a tissue and barely tugged and it came right out. He seemed relieved but wasn't as excited as the first time. When Daddy came home he did want to show him that his tooth was gone. Now it is time to sneak in and leave him that moolah!
